It’s that time of year again when the days are getting shorter and colder, and a night in getting cosied up with a good Netflix series and filling up on Christmas treats sounds perfect to many of us. This year we are bringing you some festive cheer by sharing the 4 best Christmas Markets in UK 2022. Each one of them is handpicked and curated with plenty of information that will help you decide what to expect.

 

1. Birmingham Christmas Market
Dates: 3rd November 2022 – 23rd December 2022
Where: Victoria Square and New Street

 

Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham is the largest authentic German market outside of Austria or Germany and is home to over 80 alpine style stalls stretching across the city centre.

If you’re after some last-minute Christmas gifts then you’ll find beautiful decorations, hand-crafted goods, and charming wooden toys for the kids.

The food and drink however are the main reason to visit. Stalls selling traditional German food and the sweet aroma fill Victoria Square with the most delicious scent of Christmas. When the temperatures start to drop you can warm up with a sweet hot chocolate or mug of strong Glühwein.

The refreshment stalls are the heart of the market and where most people congregate to soak up the festive ambience.

2. Bristol Christmas Market
Dates: 4th November 2022 – 24th December 2022

 

Celebrate this festive season at Bristol Christmas Market and home to over 50 unique stalls, to find the perfect gifts for your family.

For those foodies who love Christmas food, you won’t be disappointed with the range of food from German bratwurst to sweet treats such as crepes. There is something to for everyone.

If you’re feeling a little cold, why not head to the Jäger Barn Bar and pick up a cup of warm mulled cider or a tasty hot chocolate. The bar is the perfect place to take in the festive atmosphere with your family. But if you’re looking for a quieter place, Bristol market offers Igloo and gondola hire to make the trip a little more special.

Bristol Christmas Market happens in the city’s Shopping Quarter in Broadmead, making it convenient to get to if traveling by train or there are many local car parks nearby to choose from.

3. Edinburgh Christmas Market
Dates: 25th November 2022 – 3rd January 2023

 

Edinburgh is a city well known as the city of festivals, so they know how to create a magical vibe in the city during Christmas time.

Edinburgh Christmas Markets is one of the most attended markets in the UK with thousands of visitors attending each year, taking place in East Princes Street Gardens.

There is a myriad of stalls offering handmade crafts, home produce, food and drink stalls, Santa’s grotto, rides, and attractions that include an ice rink at George Square, a Ferris wheel, and more.

Don’t miss out on the Street of Light on the Royal mile, which features a temporary installation of more than 60,000 lights that illuminates the whole length of the road. Enjoy this walk under the canopy of colourful light extravaganza sipping your Gluhwein and savouring warm roasted chestnuts.

4. Manchester Christmas Market
Dates: 10th November 2022 – 22nd December 2022

 

Manchester is home to the best Christmas markets in the UK and hosts no less than 7 of them spread out! They are scattered all around the city centre, making Manchester a life-size winter wonderland!

Each market has a bit of a different atmosphere and offers a unique experience, and with each one being very close to walk to, there is time to explore each one.

You will never go hungry exploring the markets with the Exchange Square has the famous Porky Pig’s Yorkshire Pudding Wrap, St Ann’s Square has fresh authentic paella, or head to Winter gardens for bratwursts. If you want something sweet there are plenty of stalls offering cookies, doughnuts, crepes, or cupcakes to choose from.
