With the circumstances and travel advice everchanging, we’re all feeling a little hesitant when it comes to booking our summer holidays abroad. Most of us didn’t manage to get away last year, so we feel as though we need a break more than ever! There are copious amounts of doubt around plans in the near future, and let’s face it, you may not even feel comfortable enough to get on a plane just yet. Well, the good news is that staycations are still an option, and if you managed to take one last year, you probably found that a holiday in the UK can be just as wonderful as the ones that you’re used to.
With all the uncertainty around travel, we wanted to offer a bit of guidance when it comes to planning your summer holiday. That’s why we’ve prepared a list of our best staycation ideas. Read it here:
A campervan adventure
A campervan is an amazing way to explore the UK with all the freedom you could want. After over a year of restrictions, what better way to feel less restricted! Travel wherever you want and see some of the country’s best views along the way. Places like the Lake District, Snowdonia and coastal locations are just some of the top spots. If you don’t currently have your own means of transport, you can hire a campervan through Goboony. Or if you feel as though a campervan holiday is something that you’ll want to do over and over, you could look at buying one for yourself or even converting one into your dream mini holiday home.
A holiday by the sea
Who doesn’t love a seaside holiday? If you’re looking for somewhere with lots going on, bars, restaurants and an abundance of places to say, then a holiday by the beach could be your perfect summer break. The UK also has some beautiful beach spots, that may even surprise you. A staycation in Devon or Cornwall could mean that you find yourself surrounded by clear water and sandy beaches. Did someone say fish and chips on the beach?
A summer spa
It may not be the most stereotypical way to spend a summer holiday, but many spas in the UK have outdoor pools and beautiful grounds with luxurious outside areas where you can bask in the sun whilst you wait for your massage. If relaxation is what you’re looking for, then a spa break is the way to go, and there are spa hotels in pretty much every area of the country. Take your pick!
A countryside hotel
If you like long walks and afternoon tea in a perfectly pruned garden, then a country house hotel could be your ideal summer staycation plan. If you’re after a beautiful bedroom to stay in after spending the day exploring beautiful places, all while living a little bit luxurious, then this could be the best option for you. With long driveways, and surrounded by fresh green fields, you’ll really feel like you’ve escaped from the clutches of real life. A breath of fresh air.
A city break
If you’re after the hustle and bustle of the city, filled with pretty lights, cocktails, coffees and shopping, then a sleek hotel in one of the UK’s major cities could be your best bet for a good time. There’s plenty of choice of delicious cuisine, and all the bars and coffee shops that you could imagine. You definitely won’t be bored, and after a long day of shopping and exploring, what could beat a comfortable hotel pillow to rest your head on?
