‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ chefs running restaurant workshops

A group of chefs from all over the world and joining forces to run a three-night event which will offer workshops and masterclasses in the capital city.

The chefs, which are all from the ‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ list will be running ‘The Lab’, which is kickstarting on April 25th at the Tobacco Docks in London.

Some of the chefs that will be involved include head of Noma, which is on top of the Restaurant Magazine list, Osteria Francescana who is fifth on the list, and Ashley Palmer-Watts, head chef at ‘Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’, which was the highest UK restaurant on the list, at ninth.

The event, which will be hosted by food writer Gizzi Erskine, aims to offer showcases and workshops to those interested in hospitality jobs. Lars Williams, head of research at the top Noma restaurant, will hold classes and tutorials in his Noma Flavour Test, whilst Bruno Loubet, Bo London’s Alvin Leung and Daniel Doherty of the Duck & Waffle will all be involved in the AEG Experiment.

The ‘World’s 50’ list was compiled by Restaurant Magazine; this year celebrating its 11th anniversary. Restaurant Magazine’s editor William Drew said: “Each year, we look forward to announcing the date of the awards as it marks the beginning of ‘The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ 2013 season.

“We strive to ensure the results reflect the current global dining scene, with criteria enabling members to vote far and wide from small, unknown restaurants in secluded regions to the best known restaurants in the world.”

Other aspects of the three-day event will include a masterclass with the Research Lounge, and an interactive mixology lab at the cocktail bar.
