According to statistics provided by VisitBritain, the UK is proving to be an extremely popular tourist destination for the Chinese, with a whopping 46% increase in visitors since 2015. With Chinese New Year approaching this weekend, the UK is expected to be one of the most popular destinations for celebrating the Year of the Rooster. Chinese New Year is on 28th January 2017, with celebrations beginning on 27th January all the way through to 2nd February.
During this period tourists naturally flock to China Town in London, so we thought we’d give a little helping hand for those of you who are organising your trip and are wondering where to go to experience the best Chinese food in the city. In doing so, we have come up with our top 3 restaurants to celebrate the Year of the Rooster:
HAKKASAN – Mayfair – http://hakkasan.com/locations/hakkasan-mayfair/
Want to treat yourself to a night to remember in a Michelin star restaurant? Hakkasan hands down is one of the best Chinese restaurants you can eat at. Yes, it will make a large dent in your pocket but my, will it be worth it. Whenever I have asked others on their thoughts of Hakkasan, I hear nothing but glowing reviews. The Décor in each of their restaurants is intimate, with low lighting to match its beautiful yet understated interior. The atmosphere provided is the perfect setting for that special occasion. If you’re unsure of what to order, the set menus are a fantastic way to try a variety of dishes off the menu, and it’s absolutely delicious. I think the best thing about this place as well is that the portions are generous, and if the staff feel as if you’re ordering too much, they will advise you on what to order instead. The food, service and atmosphere are all outstanding.

Diners with Asian heritage love this place as it really is the food you would find in China. Recommendations off the menu include the BBQ pork, roast duck and the dumplings.
