Former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville will be opening their new venture, Cafe Football, in Westfield Stratford next month (December 2013).
Located on The Street, the football-themed restaurant will be the first venue by Giggs and Neville's new hospitality firm GG Hospitality, and the menu will be overseen by two-Michelin-starred chef Michael Wignall, and Brendan Fyldes of The Stafford London. The menu will consist of signature dishes, such as the Cafe Football Burger, lamb kebab, fish pie and a twist on the 'Pot Noodle'. The Corner Shop also serves a series of desserts, including a Melting Chocolate Football, the Half-Time Orange and a Pistachio Turf. Customers will also enjoy signature cocktails like 'The Red Devil', and a drink menu of over 20 wines from ten countries.
As part of the design, the 140-cover restaurant boasts multiple TV screens and outside seating; the latter of which features outdoor heaters and blankets for customers.
Ryan Giggs said: “The food at Café Football will be a unique take on all of the traditional match-day favourites. We want it to be the place where guests can enjoy themselves while eating classic football dishes, created with a modern twist. There is a real sense of community within football fans and we want that fun atmosphere to spread to Café Football – it will be a place that reflects the spirit of fans coming together after a match.”
It has already been announced that Cafe Football will be followed up by GG Hospitality with a 139-bedroom Hotel Football right next to Manchester United's home ground Old Trafford. The mid-market property features a football pitch on the roof, with its interior design being influenced by the beautiful game itself.
