A hotel in Nottingham is set to be converted into serviced apartments after the location was purchased by the Roomzzz Aparthotel group.
The Welbeck Hotel in the city, which is located in Talbot Street, will be transformed after the previous owner of the location went into administration.
Four workers in hospitality jobs at the hotel will get the chance to work for Roomzzz once work at the site has been complete. The restaurant at the location has been closed down with immediate effect, but the hotel remains open for business.
Mark Walton, head of Roomzzz Aparthotel, explained that the Nottingham site is expected to be relaunched in April next year. Roomzzz Aparthotel is also planning to open locations in Chester, Liverpool and London Stratford in the next 12 months.
He said: "The Nottingham city centre hotel is very well located for corporate and leisure trade. It represents the ideal premises and position for our first luxury Aparthotel in the Midlands and is an excellent addition to our growing portfolio."
Financial and business advisors Grant Thornton UK LLP handled the administration of previous owner Starfame Limited and he stated that there was an "exceptional" level of interest among companies looking to take over the Welbeck Hotel.
He said: "The city centre location, continuing recovery of the regional property market and potential for alternative uses, delivered significant value in the property. This transaction is further evidence of investors looking outside the competitive London property market for opportunities."
Roomzzz, which has its headquarters in Leeds, already runs locations in Manchester and Newcastle, as well as in its home city in Yorkshire. The company aims to provide luxury serviced apartments that boast a range of top features such as a fully functioning kitchen, work desk, living area, broadband internet and plasma television.
More than 250 new Roomzzz Aparthotel rooms are to be made available over the course of 2015, with the company creating 82 spacious apartments at its London site, which is located close to the capital Olympic Park.
