Pizza Express has run a Mother's Day promotion using social media to encourage customers to discuss their own mothers.
The grand prize in the competition, which finished on the evening of March 27th, was a Pizza Express meal.
This big prize takes the form of a £100 meal at one of the restaurant brand's outlets, which could be taken on Mother's Day or an alternate date (via gift voucher).
The competition took place on social media platform Facebook, with customers asked to like the brand's official page on the site, then comment on a particular post with an amusing anecdote about their own mother.
The winner was picked based on which story was thought to be most amusing.
Social Media use has become an important promotional technique in the restaurant trade.
Not only big brands are on Facebook, Twitter and similar sites, smaller brands also often have a social media presence.
Common uses for these tools include listing new promotions, dealing with feedback from customers, and even offering basic details such as opening times.
Instagram was home to another Pizza Express competition earlier this month.
This came to a close March 21st this year, and the comp was linked-in with the Dough Balls ’Speciale’ dish that the brand has added to its menu for a limited time until the end of this month.
Dough Balls ’Speciale’ features dough balls including Gran Moravia mixed into them and sprinkled on top, and served with either garlic butter, soft n’duja dip or pesto.
The Instagram competition asked people to follow Pizza Express' official account then post and tag a photo of themselves eating at a Pizza Express outlet.
People in restaurant hospitality jobs will likely be hoping people will be heading to their eateries this weekend, as a Mother's Day treat.
