The Middle East is set to become home to several new Premier Inn hotel venues in the coming years.
Whitbread and Action Hotels plc have given word of a partnership that will see the new hotels developed in the region.
Four Premier Inn venues will open there before 2016. These are set to be owned by Action, but managed long-term by Premier Inn.
Action will plough some AED 378M (£63 million) into building and developing the locations during the coming two years. Some 170 jobs will be created in the Middle East in the process.
The first of the venues to open will be Premier Inn Sharjah King Faisal Road, which will feature 166 bedrooms and open its doors later this year.
Two locations will open in 2015, Premier Inn Jeddah, with 100 rooms and a Premier Inn based in Bahrain’s Diplomatic area with 119 rooms. The following year, Premier Inn Dubai Healthcare City will make another 245 Premier Inn rooms available to people.
"Premier Inn already has five hotels operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and the brand is proving very popular with customers who are looking for great value accommodation and a great quality product. We are delighted to be partnering with Action Hotels to introduce the Premier Inn brand to new countries and significantly increase our presence in the region," commented Darroch Crawford Premier Inn Middle East and Africa managing director.
The news follows rival hotel chain Travelodge giving word earlier this month that it is putting £100 million into the business in 2014, creating 1,000 British jobs in the process.
It is set to open 15 hotels as one part of the investment. As well as this, it will be renovating 11,800 of its hotel rooms, an activity that will cost £37 million.
These two activities and ongoing development of the business are set to bring about recruitment for 1,000 people including in hospitality jobs such as receptionists and hotel managers.
