A new competition is asking people to discuss the perfect London day out, and submit an image or film, for a chance to become 'London's Official Guest of Honour'.
The VisitLondon.com and VisitBritain contest is an international competition, and the winner will get a very special trip to the city.
In a February 2015 visit, the lucky person will experience activities such as opening landmark Tower Bridge, attending a West End stage show with Jessie J and being accompanied to the Science Museum by Stephen Hawking.
Other well known people involved in the prize include Tim Henman – one of the most famous faces in tennis, Jim Carter of Downton Abbey fame, the Rt Hon John Bercow MP and chef Jason Atherton, among others.
Along with a friend, the winner will experience a Radisson Blu Edwardian luxury suite by way of accommodation and much more besides.
The last day to enter the contest – which will no doubt play a part in promoting London and so could see people in hospitality jobs in the city experiencing a boost to custom from tourists – is December 9th this year, unless 50,000 entries are received before then.
The competition winner will then be named in January 2015, with their special trip happening the following month.
"London is ready to welcome our Guest of Honour in style. This is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the greatest city in the world, in the greatest possible way and I know the winner will take home something special, something unique, something that they will never forget," commented Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
The Mayor's promotional organisation, London & Partners, has organised the special prize.
