A Trivago.co.uk top ten of popular national destinations for the October half term has put London in first place.
The run-down, based upon searches made on the hotel comparison site from September 1st to October 19th, also featured Blackpool (two), Edinburgh (three), Glasgow (four) and York in the top five.
London also came out as the most costly destination on the list for half-term, with the average price tag of £154 per night in the October 24th to November 2nd period. Second-placed Blackpool was the top-ten's most affordable spot, with an average price of £63 per night.
Prices are the average nightly price of one standard double room, according to searches undertaken from September 1st to October 19th.
The rest of the most-popular national top ten featured Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham Leeds and Bristol.
A separate half term top ten was made for international destinations, which saw Paris take the top spot as most popular, with Amsterdam at two and Barcelona at three.
Closer to the UK, Dublin was at four, while Benidorm was in fifth place. The top ten was completed by Rome, Venice, Dubai, Berlin and Albufeira.
The average Dubai hotel price – based on the same methodology as the national prices mentioned above – was the most costly in this list, at £172 per night. Venice was the second most pricy (£152) and Paris was third (£148). This top ten's cheapest location was Berlin (£71).
"It is encouraging to see that hotel prices are fairly consistent with prices from the week before and October prices in general, showing that hoteliers are generally not attempting to cash in on the October half term," commented Denise Bartlett, Trivago UK Public Relations.
