Lindley secures 6-year catering deal at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club

New catering recruitment opportunities could arise at The Lindley Group after it was awarded a six-year contract with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (GCCC).

Lindley Venue Catering – the group's specialist sports stadia catering division – will provide catering and events management services at GCCC's Bristol County Ground as the club embarks on an extensive redevelopment of the venue.

Last summer, Lindley was awarded a single-season contract with GCCC with responsibility for managing all of the match-day and non match-day catering and events at the ground, pending the outcome of the club's planning application to expand and enhance the facilities.

That planning application was approved later last year and Lindley was subsequently invited to tender for the longer-term six-year contract worth an estimated £6.8 million.

The redevelopment aims to turn the ground into a leading centre for sport, including one-day international cricket matches.

It will include the creation of a state-of-the art media centre, a purpose-built conference centre aimed at benefiting the local community and businesses, and extension of the ground's capacity to 17,500.

As well as catering services, a key part of Lindley's remit will be to provide a comprehensive sales and marketing programme to maximise usage of the new facilities, particularly the conference centre.

"Gloucestershire CCC has been very clear in its ambition both to attract more supporters to the ground for one-day international and domestic cricket matches, and to make Bristol County Ground a central hub for the local community and businesses," said Adam Elliott, the Lindley Group's chief executive officer.

"The new development opens up a whole range of opportunities to make much greater use of the new facilities and we are delighted to have been selected as the club's catering and events partner from the inception of the new plans."

The first phase of the redevelopment programme at the ground began in October 2012 with the new facilities expected to be fully operational ahead of the 2014 season.
