Last month saw the launch of a new mobile application from bookings site LateRooms.com.
According to LateRooms Group managing director, Jesper With-Fogstrup, the app provides a simple method for people to search quickly for a large number of hotel deals around the world.
The Group is proud of the product, which it put months into developing with its "customers in mind" he said.
"The LateRooms.com philosophy is that booking a hotel should be really easy no matter what your plans, budget or destination, and our new app will bring a world of hotels, whatever your need, to our customers’ fingertips," he added.
The app is part of a trend towards mobile technology in the world of hotels and hospitality – and indeed more widely.
It lets users look at and book more than 65,000 properties, and can be downloaded to Android phones or iPhones.
Search icons and filters are designed to make its use easy. The app also features the ability to see images of hotels and reviews from fellow customers.
The two versions of the app – one for the newest Android system, the other for iOS 7 – are both different.
Developers put months into looking at user experience, such as when people require hotels and where.
The website recently gave word that it was sponsoring travel shows on Channel 4 this year.
Programmes like A Place in the Sun and Coach Trip on both Channel 4 and other channels, such as More4, have featured its sponsorship since the end of January.
"To be sponsoring all of Channel 4’s diverse travel programmes is a great showcase for LateRooms.com, and cements us as a source of inspiration for hotel-lovers as they watch both their favourite programmes, and some exciting new offerings for 2014," commented Lynda Matthews, the site's head of marketing.
