Berkeley Scott are very pleased to be working in conjunction with this fully-fresh operator in looking to source a high-quality Head Chef and Sous Chef for their new concept opening in Manchester.

Manchester has more investment into its infrastructure than anywhere else in the UK, and the restaurant industry is growing at a great pace – There are loads of opportunities to progress your career here, in a city which can offer a cost of living which is vastly cheaper than the majority of the London and surrounding areas.

The site will be absolutely stunning, designed to the very highest specifications and will be very on-trend - Lots of style and even more substance.

The menus they are hoping to launch will feature breakfast, lunch and dinner services, and will be geared towards healthy eating as well as modern European high-spec cooking.
If you have experience of Australian ‘café culture’ operations or have spent some time travelling in the US with some stints in NY or LA high-end, stripped-back brasseries and cafes, we would love to hear from you!

The restaurant will have some fantastic, quirky and high-end features and is certain to make an immediate impact in Manchester.

You must have had experience in fresh cooking to a good standard – Ideally you will also have had exposure to quality branded operations, as the Company is anticipating rolling the concept out across another 20 sites in time – Meaning that your opening menus need to wow the customers at the same time as being scalable into a small-to-medium sized restaurant group. This also means that there is lots of room for progression for the right candidates to become Group Exec or Area Chef in time.

The Company is also expecting candidates to be very capable at building a culture of respect and development in their kitchens – As such, you should be a leader as well as a manager, well able to organise progression planning within your site and training Head Chefs and Sous Chefs of the future (which will enable you to progress yourself as well).

This is a very exciting opportunity, and its success will rely very heavily on the Head Chef and Sous Chef being able to deliver the requirements above in a cost-effective and sustainable way. You will need to be very up on trends in the industry and be able to stay ahead of the curve with regards to different types of menu depending on the time of day.

• Able to recruit in conjunction with Berkeley Scott, select, train, motivate and develop a kitchen team
• Design fully-fresh, profitable and exciting menus
• Liaise with suppliers to source and continuously ensure quality products
• Be very in tune with current market trends, and anticipate future ones
• Design the layout of the kitchen build, help source the right equipment
• Be able to be customer-facing when required
• Be able to lead and manage a kitchen team in an open kitchen
• Design spec manuals / SOPs and control HACCP to an extremely high standard
• Roll out the concept to other sites as they open, be involved in pre-opening and maintaining standards throughout the estate
• Cooking skills which are second-to-none
• A hands-on leader of your teams
• Able to liaise effectively with front-of-house teams and foster a healthy culture of respect and development
• Build a sustainable and high-quality ‘brand’ which will be robust enough to stand the test of time

In return for your talent, hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a basic salary of up to £36,000 + bonus, benefits and a serious chance to progress your career.
