Job: Head Chef

Head Chef
£35000 - £40000 per annum + Bonus
Permanent
--South West London
An independent, neighbourhood Indian street food restaurant, voted as Top 3 Indian Local Restaurants by Time Out, is looking for its first Head Chef. Successfully run for the last 18 months in South West London by the Founder/proprietor/patron, the restaurant has gone on to scoop multiple accolades in the industry, such as Best Independent Designed Restaurant at the Casual Dining awards and recently, Best New Business at the Asian Business Awards.

The restaurant is now in the exciting fast growth stage of business, with the plan to have 7 sites open and running within the next 5 years. With this in the works, the time has come to bring in an experienced Head Chef who can work closely with the Founder to run the flagship site while growing with the demands of the Kitchen. This involves keeping the menu authentic and consistent. The menu currently consists of around 20-30 items, all made in-house and using traditional methods/produce. Rather than a standard curry house, this restaurant is focused on chaat, or Indian street food sharing plates.

The business is growing its clientele constantly, as its popularity increases in the area. The restaurant generates around £10K-£15K a week in sales and is able to sit 55 covers at once. The kitchen is located below the restaurant and as Head Chef, you will be running prep and service with a team of 4 chefs. Some have been there since the beginning, enjoying the rapid growth of the business and growing with it.
The right chef for this opportunity will be someone with a good understanding of spices and a willingness to learn authentic Indian Street food. They'll be a strong leader, self-starter and able to think on their feet. The Head Chef will be expected to manage the kitchen, people, and admin, alongside having a passion to grow the business exponentially. They'll also be able to keep the GP above 70% and keep wastage to a minimum.

The venue itself was recognised by industry critics due to its innovative and original casual design and emphasis on bold colours. The concept is to create a place where you can sit down with real Indian street food and catch up with close friends. The restaurant’s menu expands into a unique cocktail selection that has been featured in Vogue and Elle Magazines.
