Interstate Hotels has acquired company Sanguine Hospitality Management, in a hope to expand its hotel portfolio across the UK.
The US-based firm will be adding 14 of the hotels owned by Sanguine to its European collection, meaning that it will be managing 51 hotels in total within the region. Sanguine has already established partnerships with large corporations in the past five years, including Hilton Worldwide, Wyndham Worldwide and InterContinental Hotels Group.
The move means that Interstate Hotels will be able to grow its influence in the UK. Jim Abrahamson, chief executive of Interstate Hotels & Resorts, said: “It’s incredibly gratifying to see Interstate’s global footprint continue to grow, delivering on our overall expansion strategy. As full UK operations join our established Interstate Europe platform in Russia and Continental Europe, we look forward to our alliance with Sanguine and their exceptional teams.”
Interstate Hotels is hoping to bring its UK portfolio to 100 hotels in the next five years, and this recent acquisition of Sanguine will be able to contribute towards this goal.
Sanguine chairman Simon Matthews-Williams added: “While we have enjoyed significant success through organic growth and a strong market reputation, our new relationship with Interstate puts us on an entirely new level and provides a platform to achieve step change growth.”
Sanguine currently has a series of projects on the go, with it hoping to complete three new hotel developments in Sheffield, Birmingham and Exeter this year. Other projects in Manchester, London and Cardiff are also in the pipeline, with project details for new hotels being finalised.
Bosses at Interstate have suggested that job recruiters keep an eagle eye on new hospitality jobs that may be on offer with the expansion.
