Partner announced for UN backed Green Earth Appeal and restaurateur programme.

Foof For Thought

Press Release, London, 28th July 2011
Leading hospitality and leisure recruiter Berkeley Scott have been unveiled as the exclusive global recruitment partner of the United Nations backed Food For Thought Programme.

The Food For Thought Programme is an extension of the Green Earth Appeal and part of a network that has planted over 60 million trees. The programme has been developed to promote the helping of the environment by working with restaurateurs, allowing them to reduce the carbon footprint of their businesses without having to spend any money.

Marvin Baker of the Green Earth Appeal explains that "the simplicity of Food For Thought is what makes it so inviting to restaurateurs. It's a unique but simple way for restaurants to demonstrate their social and environmental responsibilities in a way which costs them almost no time and absolutely no money."

Berkeley Scott became involved because, according to Baker "we wanted a credible partner who has industry reach, instant credibility and contacts. An affiliate who share our aims and will support us in our efforts. Going to the recruitment market leader made absolute sense"

Mark Darby, managing director of Berkeley Scott, welcomed the agreement to work together "our clients and the professional people we place in management positions have CSR high on their agenda and this is a way we can work with the industry to ensure we are leading the way. We are committed to the aims of the United Nations Environment Programme and are proud to have been selected as the recruitment partner of choice."

Satinder Bindra, Director of Communications for UNEP personally endorsed the scheme, saying "Food for Thought is an outstanding initiative which successfully merges the joy of eating out with the joy of knowledge we are simultaneously giving something back to nourish our planet."

Berkeley Scott has devised a marketing campaign alongside The Green Earth Appeal and will be rolling it out shortly.
