What better way to find out exactly what it's like to work for Berkeley Scott, than hearing it from our employees themselves. Here's a real insight into three, very different roles at Berkeley Scott.

Name: Anna Redbourn
Job title: Operations Manager
Division: Chefs and SE Hotels
Berkeley Scott office: Godalming/ London

1 - What do you enjoy most about your role at Berkeley Scott?
Everyday is different and no two days are the same. The role is really varied and I get a great buzz from working in a target focussed environment.

2 - What attracted you to working for Berkeley Scott?
Berkeley Scott has a great reputation in the market place and a strong brand name.

3 - What is your career history? What sort of background did you come from? Recruitment or within the Hotel and Hospitality industry?
I originally trained to be a chef and did my apprenticeship at The Savoy. After going travelling I decided I wanted a job with more sociable hours and got a job with a Recruitment Company that specialised in Craft Level Temporary Staff. After two years I went and worked for a High Street recruitment company for seven years before joining Berkeley Scott in 2006.

4 - How would you describe the training and support you received when you began your career at Berkeley Scott?
I was very impressed with the Training Academy and the ongoing support and training you receive at Berkeley Scott

5 - Please describe a 'typical' day at Berkeley Scott
As a Recruitment Consultant, the day is always varied, from interviewing candidates, going on client calls, matching candidates to jobs, sales calls and arranging interviews.

6 - How would you describe the Berkeley Scott culture?
Berkeley Scott is a really fun place to work, it sounds cheesy but it is the ultimate work hard, play hard environment. High achievers are really rewarded but support is given to help people succeed.
Name: Andy Gordon
Job title: Senior Consultant
Division: Contracts and Facilities Management
Berkeley Scott office: Godalming

1 - What do you enjoy most about your role at Berkeley Scott?
Being able to be proactive in varied markets. Knowing there is true progression if you're willing to work for it.

2 - What attracted you to working for Berkeley Scott?
Berkeley Scott had an outsourcing project with Virgin Atlantic just about to start and it suited my back ground. The location was perfect to where I lived.

3 - What is your career history? What sort of background did you come from? Recruitment or within the Hotel, Hospitality and Catering industries?
Operational management in Bars, Restaurants and Independent Breweries

4 - How would you describe the training and support you received when you began your career at Berkeley Scott?
Very good, sometimes I felt it was too much too soon. But as my career progressed, the training came at opportune times.

5 - Please describe a 'typical' day at Berkeley Scott
First of all I get organised for the day and get urgent emails out of the way before 9am. I then get all my calls done in the next two hours. Then I usually have interviews or client meetings booked. If I don't have any meetings scheduled then I spend this time with business development calls and networking. Afternoons are a mix of setting up and gaining feedback from candidates interviews and touching base with clients. This combined with organising yourself for the following working day.
Name: Rob Melling
Job title: Senior Consultant, Team leader
Division: Pubs, Bars and Restaurants
Berkeley Scott office: Manchester

1 - What do you enjoy most about your role at Berkeley Scott?
I enjoy motivating and developing a great team of people from all different backgrounds within the hospitality and leisure sector. Also being able to see the results of your hard work, day by day is very important to me. I enjoy driving the business forward and proving that even after so many years its still possible to set precedents within the company and the recruitment industry in general.

2 - What attracted you to working for Berkeley Scott?
Working for a company that actively encourages innovation and forward thinking, and gives you the autonomy to put new ideas into practise. The company also gives you the chance to self manage as well as managing others.

3 - What is your career history? What sort of background did you come from? Recruitment or within the Hotel and Hospitality industry?
I originally started in the industry at 14 as a kitchen porter. I then worked my way up to become a commis chef, working part-time before leaving the business at 17 to go to drama school in London. Following a few years as a TV presenter for Granada, I became involved in running businesses as a Deputy Manager, then a GM working for Scottish & Newcastle and the Spirit Group. I managed large venues in Manchester and London before finally, after 10 years as a manager I decided to take a new career path. This happened purely by fate when I came into Berkeley Scott as a candidate. The rest as they say is history.

4 - How would you describe the training and support you received when you began your career at Berkeley Scott?
The support I received from the office manager and David Henshaw, our regional director was great. Never at any point did I feel under any undue or unnecessary pressure from other people. I found that I was given the time to develop a work ethic that worked best for me. I was taught that the pressure you feel should come from yourself and not from others. The training seems to get better day by day and as new people come into the business, they seem to be benefiting even more from the fantastic new training and development programmes that are provided by Berkeley Scott.

5 - Please describe a 'typical' day at Berkeley Scott
I don't think I have ever had what others might perceive to be a 'typical day'. My days tend to be non stop. However my day normally starts around 8.30am. Ill start by catching up with everyone in the team then catch up on emails, phone calls and check the candidates by email lists. I then tend to structure my day,
(I live my life by lists) I would normally call any candidates that are due in for interviews on that day to make sure they are prepared. I also check in with the clients to see there are no last minutes changes. I will then focus on things based on level of importance. I tend to achieve on a week by week basis nowadays rather than monthly. That way I know I can achieve my monthly forecasts easily and more precisely. Everyone is our office is pretty close and we do spend a lot of our day laughing. We think its the best way of getting through and not getting too stressed about things, it seems to work for us. The rest of the day consists of meeting candidates and securing interviews, making placements and relationship building. To be honest I really can't pinpoint what a typical day is for me, because everyday is different.

6 - How would you describe the Berkeley Scott culture?
A culture that proves if you put it the time and commitment, the rewards you reap are limitless. No other company rewards its teams in the generous way of Berkeley Scott.

3 - What is your career history? What sort of background did you come from? Recruitment or within the Hotel and Hospitality industry?
