Yes, the nation is celebrating all things organic this September and The Soil Association are backing the successful campaign for what could be the biggest one yet!
The question you’re all probably asking yourself is, what is actually classed as organic? well I’m here to help you out with that! Food that will classify as organic will include anything that has had higher levels of animal welfare than standard, lower levels of pesticides, no manufactured herbicides or artificial fertilisers and more environmentally sustainable management of land and the environment.
So now you know what is classed as organic, you’re now probably thinking that to go organic you’re going to have to be reading the back of every pack of food to check all the information and it will just take forever to do your weekly shop. Stop there! It really is much simpler… just look out for the soil association logo on the packaging and you’re good to go!
If you take a look at their official website they event have special offers and promotions you can grab to make savings on those organic products, so there’s no excuse for ‘it’s too expensive’. Just filter it by your location and you’ll see all the offers near you (link below).

If you decide to go organic for the month you could be a lot better off! you’ll face less health risks from chemicals, including breast cancer which has been linked to the use of pesticide lindane in normal milk! For you wine heads out there it has also been said that drinking organic wine is less likely to lead to a hangover because they are free from sulphur dioxide – a preservative used in wines. Think I’m definitely going to be drinking organic wine on weekdays now!
