Eden Hotel Collection plans new Salcombe waterfront hotel

After acquiring the Tides Reach hotel in Salcombe, Eden Hotel Collection has given word of an investment worth £12 million for the property.

The Collection has included Tides Reach, a 35 bedroom hotel, since earlier this year, when it was bought from the venue's previous owners, the Edwards family, after they had owned the property for nearly five decades.

The Eden Collection is privately owned and includes eight luxury hotels in the south-west and midlands.

Its latest acquisition is now set to stay closed during a period of major redevelopment. The result will be a new 50 bedroom waterfront hotel, which is promised to feature its own private beach and a spa.

"We are delighted to expand further into the south-west, where our parent company, The Rigby Group plc, already has strong business links through its ownership of Exeter Airport and British International Helicopters," commented Mark Chambers, managing director of Eden Hotel Collection.

"Tides Reach will add to our existing luxury hotels in Somerset and Kingsbridge, establishing a firm presence for Eden Hotel Collection in the region."

He also explained that one of Eden's key values is community integration and creating connections with local supplies, businesses and people. The group wants to bring about a positive effect on Salcombe's local economy, he has noted. Some 100 jobs are set to come about because of the £12 million investment.

The Eden Collection has been built up over the period of a decade as Rigby Group has purchased and restored a variety of hotel venues. Tides Reach is the latest in a range featuring Devon's Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon's The Arden Hotel and five other venues.

The Collection originally acquired Tides Reach back in January of this year.
