Hospitality recruitment work for the upcoming Hilton at The Ageas Bowl has started, Hilton Hotels & Resorts recently announced.
Situated at The Agnes Bowl in Hampshire, the hotel will feature views of this well known cricket venue, a ballroom, spa, restaurant and golf course, and is set to open in May next year.
Jon Fisher is now director of sales for the four star venue, having just been appointed, and recruitment for other hospitality jobs linked to the hotel is planned for the near future.
Mr Fisher has just been sales director for the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel for two years. Before that, he was client account manager for the south, with responsibility for eight Marriott hotels. He's also worked for IBM and Xyratex during his career.
Hilton say the job of director of sales for Hilton at the Ageas Bowl will see Mr Fisher – who has always lived in Hampshire – take responsibility for exceeding client expectations and forging business relationships sparking long lasting partnerships.
"Hampshire is a great place to live for leisure, social and career opportunities – all of which I have been fortunate enough to experience – and I think promoting the gems that the area has to offer is key to my new role," said Mr Fisher.
He said that he has always taken an interest in local sports teams and thus was especially keen to join The Agnes Bowl hotel, which brings together his two passions, hospitality and sport.
"With my knowledge of the local corporate market, my strong relationships with leisure industry contacts and an extensive network of business contacts, I am confident that I can achieve the high expectations of the new hotel," he added.
A big rugby fan, as well as cricket supporter, Mr Fisher has two sons with his wife, and they live in the Warsash area of Hampshire.
The Hilton at The Ageas Bowl website lists the venue as having 175 rooms, and suggests its golf course is set to open a little after the main opening of the hotel.
