Dominvs Group, owner partner of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), has started construction for a new Manchester Holiday Inn venue, located in the centre of the northern city.
This Manchester hotel, near the Piccadilly train station (pictured), is set to feature 306 guest rooms when it opens its doors – something due to happen in 2016.
Because of its location, it's expected this franchised hotel will feel the benefit of both leisure customers going to sporting and cultural events nearby and corporate guests visiting the centre of Manchester.
There will be conference and meeting facilities on-site and a Holiday Inn Open Lobby – a special sort of hotel lobby which uses a single 'cohesive space' for several things, including bar and front desk, according to IHG.
Further north, Dominvs recently signed a franchise agreement with IHG for Holiday Inn Dumfries. The project means that a pre-existing hotel is set to launch as a Holiday Inn with 71 guest rooms this spring.
The idea is that this will support increased demand from people travelling for business in the area.
“We’re delighted to be developing more hotels with Dominvs Group, and growing our presence in the UK still further," commented IHG's chief development officer Europe, Robert Shepherd.
Meanwhile, Dominvs Group hospitality director, Preetpal Ahluwalia commented: “Only a matter of weeks ago we opened our Holiday Inn Darlington – North A1M Jct.59 and already, we have two additional hotel projects underway with IHG.
"The Holiday Inn brand was most certainly the right choice for us and will continue to be the right choice for our guests nationwide. We eagerly await the opening our first Holiday Inn hotel in Scotland.”
IHG has a nine-strong hotel brand portfolio, which is represented in close to 100 territories.
