Catering firm ARAMARK has won a new five-year contract with Wirral Metropolitan College, it has been announced.
Under the deal, worth £2.4 million, ARAMARK will both supply food services at the college's two Birkenhead campuses, as well as invest in the refurbishment of their dining spaces.
At the Conway Park campus, the ground floor reception and catering area will be overhauled, creating a new 'grab and go' outlet and a new social space for students.
ARAMARK will offer a range of internationally influenced street food at the campus, such as Cajun Spiced Quorn Jambalya and Peri Peri Chicken, as well a 'theatre cookery' dishes such as Char Sui Pork Wrap.
Meanwhile, the Twelve Quays campus will receive a new hot meal service and a value-for-money 'grab and go' offer, as well as its own Starbucks cafe.
"It has been exciting and a privilege to work with the college to design the new facilities and create a food and beverage offer aimed at increasing student satisfaction levels and increasing sales," commented Tracey Smith, business development director at ARAMARK.
"The education market is increasingly competitive and outstanding new facilities can be a real differentiator for both staff and students. We look forward to developing our proposition further throughout the life of the contract."
ARAMARK has made significant inroads into the education catering market in recent years, a fact that could see it need to increase its catering recruitment activity as it continues to win new contracts in the sector.
The company already provides its services to the University of Salford, the University of Sunderland and New College Durham and is starting new contracts at the University of Westminster and West London College this year.
And last week it was announced that ARAMARK has secured a new five-year contract, worth around £7 million, with the University of Worcester, with an option to extend the contract by a further two years.
