Caterer and facilities management firm ARAMARK has won two contract extensions with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Scotland.
The new deals will provide a significant financial boost to the firm, retaining business worth more than £3 million a year.
First up is a three-year extension to a contract which sees ARAMARK provide services to the Royal Marines in their base at Condor in Arbroath, to HMS Gannet in Prestwick and to the Royal Naval Reserve establishment at Govan.
The second contract, which has been extended by two years, covers services supplied to the MoD Caledonia – the ministry's defence equipment and support site in Rosyth.
Catering will comprise a major part of both contracts, while ARAMARK will also be responsible for retail services, cleaning and mess services.
The extensions follow discussions with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation – the MoD's property and services provider – and support its implementation of Project Hestia, which aims to align existing 'soft' facilities management contracts across the MoD over the next few years.
Mike Ball, regional managing director at ARAMARK, said: "We have a strong and productive working relationship with the MoD at these sites, making a real difference to the lives of service men and women based there.
"We're excited that we'll be continuing these partnerships throughout the duration of the new contract extensions."
ARAMARK is one of the biggest food service suppliers in the UK, working with organisations across a range of sectors, including business and industry, education, healthcare, offshore and defence.
As such, it is a major source of catering recruitment, with over 12,500 employees in the UK.
Last month, it was announced that the firm has secured a new five-year contract at one of the biggest business parks in the UK.
Under the deal, ARAMARK will operate the main restaurant at Langstone Technology Park, in Havant, Portsmouth, as well as a convenience store, vending and hospitality services.
